Electric Telegraph Department
Brisbane 15th Mar. 1861
Sir
I do myself the
honor to report that, in accordance
with your instructions, I have
visited Ipswich for the purpose
of selecting a temporary office
for the use of the Electric
Telegraph Department. I
should beg to recommend for
this purpose a brick building
in East Street, near its intersection
with Brisbane Street, formerly
Known as Thorn's Billiard Room,
to be had at a rent of thirty
Pounds per Annum and held
at will, the tenancy to terminate
at one months notice. The
building is easily accessible from
the business portion of the town
and contains one large room,
