Police office - Drayton
28" December 1860
Sir
We have the honor to state that
a Meeting of the Bench of Magistrates
was convened this day by Mr J Watts,
Member for Drayton and Toowoomba, for
the purpose of taking into consideration
the appointment of A D Broughton Esqr
to the Police Magistracy of this District.
We, whose Names are hereunto
subscribed, beg to state that as no
allegations were adduced reflecting upon
Mr Broughton as a Gentleman, nor any
defect in education to militate against
the efficiency of his appointment; we can
see no objections whatever to Mr Broughton's
appointment, the more especially, as the
objections raised, referred merely to
Domestic Matters, with which we consider
we have nothing to do.
We have the Honor to be
Sir
Your most obedient Servants
J C White, J.P.
