Maryborough Torbanlea Colliery Pat OBrien Broken leg 1 Shot hung fire and sufferer returned to it (after an hour and 20 minutes he said) and the charge exploded. It was ordinary blasting powder.
3 April 10th
{ Gympie Phoenix PC Griffith Johns Killed 1 } The charge (Dynamite) had missed fire on the previous shift which left work at 11 A.M. and Sufferers went to work at 8 h. A.M. The explosion occurred about 21 P.M. The sufferer Johns having evidently drilled into the unexploded charge, of the presence of which they had not been informed.

{ Charters Towers New Brilliant extended Henry Lauf [?] Killed 1 } Were boring with pneumatic drills and had put lights to the charges and when they thought all had gone off they returned to the face. But after 20 minutes another discharge occurred Killing both men.

Charters Towers Brilliant & St George Robert Parkinson Contusions on hand & Chest 1 Sufferer & mate had put lights to the charges but found something required to be done had been omitted, and endeavoured to put the lights out. One of the fuses had caught and the charge exploded before Sufferer got clear.
7 Decr 19 { Charters Towers New Brilliant extended Robert Hargreaves Killed 1 } Hargreaves was charging a hole in which a heavy charge of gelatine had been fired just previously without effect. He had rammed 12 plugs of gelatine in when the charge exploded.
