Regina v James alias John Gray
That he the said James Gray on 2nd december inst
on board the tender "Porpoise' near Flat top Island
in the district of Mackay aforesaid did
feloniously steal from the person of Henry
Krakenberg one cheque for ₤2.2.0 also 1/6 in
silver - a purse and a pocket knife the property
of the said Henry Krakenberg.
Stephen Fuller on his oath states.
I am a constable stationed at Mackay. I know
the prisoner who was given into my charge by
Capt Viysen. about 11.45 am on 2nd december inst
on the Tender Porpoise for stealing a cheque
for ₤2.2.0 also 1/6 in silver from one Henry
Krakenberg - I told the prisoner the charge and
he replied "I made a mistake for the first time
I am sorry for it" I then conveyed the prisoner
to the watch-house. I produce a cheque for ₤2.2.0
also 1/6 in silver also a purse - a pocket knife and
some papers with writing on - all these
articles I received from Capt Viysen in the
presence of the prisoner - I know Henry Krakenberg
who was also present when Capt Viysen
handed
