MAR. 86 BRISBANE Electric Telegraph, Queensland Wds. 151 Amt. 12/9- OHMS From Cooktown h.7 218. m Dated 28 8 1887 Message for Chf Secy BRISBANE. Goodshaw was the man who was attacked by blacks. Died on 21st just from his wounds brought police back yesterday from mainland with six prisoners natives four of them believed to be implicated in Goodshaws [sic] murder & the other two are known to have murdered & eaten a white man some time ago they are all well known as great Ruffians 87 / 1884 [written lengthwise across telegram, from bottom to top] Read the men should be disarmed and the Rifles retained. If not convicted they must be liberated, not remanded to Brisbane. Advise accordingly Submit to the Hon Attorney General for his opinion, further.
