the Colony, and would most
respectfuly submit that an
adequate Police Force should be
stationed at an advantageous
point without delay, in order that
the said District may be effectively
controlled by the patrolling police

That your Petitioners would
suggest as a suitable position
for such Native Police Station a
point on the Staaten River, on
the main road between Normanton
and Palmerville, known as Burns
crossing of the Staaten River,
situate about forty (40) miles above
the Coast Reserve, or say seventy
miles from the Sea Coast, from
which point your petitioners consider
the surrounding stations requiring
protection could be most
easily patrolled.
And your Petitioners, as in duty
bound, will be praying
