John Wyatt states on oath
I know the pair of leather trousers
now produced. I am a shopman
in the employment of Messrs Dowzer
& Purser – I sold the trousers to
John Pigott alias Yankey Jack

John Purser states on oath
I am a Store Keeper in Maryboro
I knew John Pigott Alias
Yankey Jack. He was a tall
thin man with reddish hair
beard and moustaches, he appeared
about 35 years of age, he had the
mark of a recent wound on
back part of his head the last
time I saw him was about a
month ago – when he was about
starting with a party of men
for Frazers Island.

John Lang States on oath
I am a storeman in the
employment of Messrs Dowzer
and Purser. I was so in
January last, about the middle
of which month I lent John
Pigott, alias Yankey Jack the
gun now produced, which
gun I believe to be the property
of Messrs Dowzer & Purser.

From the evidence produced
I find that John Pigott Alias
"Yankey Jack" came by his
death from wounds inflicted
on his body by Aborigines
(names unknown) at or
near the north end of Great Sandy Island.
