"INQUESTS OF DEATH ACT OF 1866."
CERTIFICATE OF PARTICULARS-INQUEST OF DEATH.
I HEREBY CERTIFY, that on the Twenty Seventh
day of December 1893, I held an Inquest of Death
at Court House Port Kennedy in the Police District of
Somerset and that the following particulars
were then disclosed:-
Name of deceased: Samuel Rowe
Profession or calling: Beche-de-mer Fisherman
Height, color of hair, peculiar clothing,
and any other means of identity: 5ft 7". Fair Hair.
Where found and when: Body not found.
Date of death: On or about 20th November 1893.
Supposed cause of death: Murdered by natives
Persons last seen in company of deceased,
and names of suspected persons: Seven mainland natives.
Accused: Murderers escaped to mainland.
Names, residences, and callings
of winesses: Chas Savage, Sub Inspt. Police, Mosquito Tracker
R. Bruce, Humphry Davey Mills Shipwright.
all of Thursday Island.
Suspicious circumstances:
Lugger in which Deceased employed found abandoned on Gulf
Coast. Bloodstains on mast & deck.

The Honourable The Attorney-General, and a Duplicate to be sent to the Commissioner of Police. See Section 3 of
"Inquests of Death Act of 1866" (30 Vic No. 3). A Copy must also be forwarded, together with the "Certificate
of Information," to the District Registrar of the District within which the Death took place.
