Write badly James Cannon Francis Bennett Michael Conway John Ryan °Thomas Chambers °Eye sight bad These two classes I attend to myself although they read & write well they are very backward Progress only moderate But the men are orderly & anxious to improve J R M J R Moffatt Read only (very badly) David Cadwalleder John Keelan Daniel Downey John Daighfelt Somerville Green *Joseph Davis Thomas Symes Teacher *Time expired I have appointed Symes teacher to this class. He has given me great help These men have made good progress and can write fair copies They have been taught to read & write together Neither Read nor Write James Burke John Young C Dick Basket A Billy A Jacky A * John C Yam C Kimboo C Thomas & Russell Teachers A - Aboriginal C Chinaman Thomas & Russell have also helped me very much in teaching the above named men I find the black men Basket and Billy making good progress also John Young the China man he has been placed in the 3d class Kimboo I fear is not to be taught
