To. Captain Pennefather Superintendent Sir, I have the honor to place in your hands my resignation of the position which I hold here under the Queensland Government, My reason for taking this step is because I have decided upon connecting myself with a town business. I should esteem it as a favor if you would permit me to sever my connection with this Establishment at the end of the present month, I entered the service in October 1884. and since that time I have endeavoured to perform my duties to the Satisfaction of my Superior Officers, I trust I succeeded in doing so. Should I require to refer to your Department as to my ability. character. &c. I trust that the response will be a favorable one, I have the honor to be Sir, Your humble Servant, William Davies, Trade Instructor, St. Helena P E 11 .. 9 .. 88 [Marginalia. St Helena] [Marginalia.
