Our Senior Constable (Davis) here is a decent fellow as a private individual. But as head of the Police here has a morbid fear of entailing any expense on the Government, even where, as at present, one would imagine in the interests of justice fees for a Medical Witness should not be grudged. I hope you will pardon me troubling you at such length & will give me any help you can for which I shall be very grateful.
