Colonial Secretary's Office,
Brisbane,
26th August, 1861.
61/1063
Sir,
Acknowledging the receipt of your letter of the 18th July last,
suggesting the formation of a Reserve of four square Miles on Robinson's Creek,
Upper Dawson, for the exclusive use of the Police stationed in
that locality, I have the honor to inform you, that as
upon enquiry, it has been shown that to extend the Reserve
on both sides of the Creek, would be an unnecessary curtailment
of the Run on which it would be situated, it has been
determined to fix the limits of the Reserve to a frontage
of two miles on one side of the Creek, with a back run of
one Mile. -
This it is believed will afford ample pasturage
for such of the Police horses as it may be necessary to keep
at hand. -
The Surveyor-General has been instructed to
mark out the Reserve accordingly withdrawing the
area from the holding of the Lessee of the Run from which it
is taken. -
I have &c.
(Sgd)
A. W. Manning.
The Acting Commandant,
Native Mounted Police,
Rockhampton,
Port Curtis District,
Queensland.
