[written diagonally, top left] Copy [right of page] Cairns 10th June 1882 Memorandum The Under Secretary for Lands Brisbane. Re 640 acres on McIvor River Cooktown District set apart as a police reserve. In order to practically test the value of sugar lands on the McIvor river, I beg to suggest the above land be sold by public auction at an upset of two pounds. It is far too good and valuable for police purposes, & I am of opinion another 640 acres could be obtained that would be quite suitable for a paddock, which I take it, is all required. The land is some of the best on the river. [signed] Walter C. Hume Land Comr [diagonal initials in left margin] WJS[?]
