Referring to the letter of the Commissioner
of Police (dated 26 July and numbered 83. 4345 I.Cook)
forwarded B.C. to this office on the 28th ult; stating
that the reserve for Police paddock on the road from
Cooktown to the McIvor River, established in lieu
of that proclaimed in page 82 of the Government
Gazette of 1880, Part 1st, is found to be unsuitable,
and requesting that the original reserve may be
re-proclaimed, the Under Colonial Secretary
is advised that in consequence of the new reserve
having been gazetted, the old one has been
surveyed and cut up for sale by auction. A
copy of Mr Commissioner Hume's report on the
matter is forwarded herewith.
It is requested that another site may be
selected.
