In accordance with instructions
Contained in your letter of the 9th.
ultimo, directing me to proceed
North, and enquire into the Condition
of the Aboriginals of the Herberton
District. I have the honor to report
that I arrived at Herberton on
the 19th. ultimo, there were no Blacks
in or about the Township.
On the 21st. I went to Waroora
station, about 30 Miles from Herberton
in a Southerly direction, there were
only about three blacks at the
Homestead, but at a Camp about
8 Miles up the creek, there were
65 Men, women, and children.
Mr. Robinson informed me that
since May last he had Killed
33 head of Cattle for their use,
he has given them no flour, £ 8.
per Month has been allowed by
the Government to meet this Expense,
up to May this year the Blacks
had been Kept out from the
station, but Mr. Robinson finding
that they were Continually Killing,
and spearing his horses and Cattle
determined
