[Stamp] COMMISSIONER OF POLICE 00,268 QUEENSLAND 14 JAN 89 Barron River P.C. Dec 28th 1888 Sir I have the honour to inform you that with regard to Mr Robinsons application re blacks, I should have proceeded there at once, but that I had two more applications, from the stations; Mitchellvale & Barron River; (both attached) to attend to. The explanation of my tel: is that had the blacks committed murder I should have left the Nor-End [sic] to give Mr Robinsons application precedence, otherwise I failed to see why I should; Besides these horses here were not in a fit state to do a patrol, nor was the country in which they were to travel sufficiently grassed, corn being unobtainable. Mr Robinson has omitted in his correspondence to make any reference to my Memo A copy of which is now on file at this office & one also of which I enclose. I have the honour to be Sir Your most obedient Servt Jno. de L. Affleck Cadet Insprtr Stuart Port Douglas
