Sir,
Herewith I have the honor
to forward statements of two aboriginal
gins re murder of James
Robinson, reported by wire of 17th
Nov. 1890, taken at an Inquiry
held before me on 21st inst.
The four aboriginals were
brought before me this day. There
is absolutely no evidence against
three of them, and not sufficient
evidence against the fourth to
sustain a conviction. No interpreter
can be procured to explain
the charge to the accused, or to
let him understand what the
gins say. Under these circumstances
I remanded the boys for
36 hours, and wired that I should
discharge them all unless instructed
to the contrary.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
