Difficulty in obtaining an
Interpreter in a Case Against
an Aboriginal from the Warrego
Police Magistrates Office
Ipswich, 6th August 1868
Sir,
I do myself the honor to bring the
following case under your notice
and to request your early instructions
thereon-
An aboriginal boy [written in adjacent margin: Age from 13 to 15 years] named
Neddy from the Warrego District, was
brought before this Bench yesterday
charged with having committed
an indecent assault on one
Mary Sullivan a girl under
twelve years of age at the
Seven Mile Creek near Ipswich.
The prisoner not understanding he
English language and there not
being any person in attendance
who could intrepet the evidence
to the prisoner, the Bench
remanded him for eight days
in
