Sir
I have the honor to
forward to you herewith
letter received this day
from Mr Davis, Mayor
of the Town expressing his
views with reference to the
future treatment of the Blacks
of this District. I fully
coincide with what he has
there stated and I have no
doubt that with judicious
treatment that much more
desirable relations might
be established between
them and the White Residents
than at present exist.
