was the officer in charge of the
Station at Cloncurry, and had
under him two (2) Constables
either of whom was much better
qualified for the duty than
Robinson appointed from the
Bynoe Native Police Station.
As regards the latter (Robinson)
I may remind you that he was
Camp Keeper at "Bynoe", and
I considered his absence would
render the whole Detachment
utterly inefficient – results from
which as I anticipated had
actually transpired, as you have
already been informed.
The want of ammunition
spoken of by Mr Henry should
not prevent the Sub Inspector
from proceeding on patrol when
necessary.
In conclusion I respectfully
submit that as my action in the
matter and the correspondence in
connexion therewith only caused
a delay of three (3) days. Should
any failure have resulted in
the Collection Lists
such action should hardly render
me responsible.
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your most obedt. Servant
