Inspector Morisset also telegraphed
to me to the effect that the Police
were not to act.
I immediately called a
meeting of the Bench, at which
besides myself were Messieurs
Hetzer & Cowl J.J.P., when it was
decided to send you the telegram
(A hereto attached) which was received
by you in Rockhampton on the
20th instant and replied to on the
same date.
On the following day, I tele=
=graphed to Inspector Morisset (B
hereto attached) to the effect that
the Bench would not alter their ap-
pointments, and calling his attention
to the delay his instructions to the
Police was causing. To this I re-
ceived the following reply (C hereto
attached,) ["Instructions" - underlined] to any member
of force attended to only when re-
ceived from a Superior."
At the first sitting of the
Bench, we wrote to Sub Inspector
Knott, informing him that Constable
Robinson was appointed as an
Assistant Collector, and requesting
him to see that he proceeded at once
to perform the duties entrusted to him
